Welcome to Schmitt Happens. Here you'll find various writing projects and material I'm drafting during the University of Illinois Writing Project. You'll also find other materials related to writing, language, and teaching.
I've always found it difficult to give myself a "bio," but here goes. I'm currently teaching English at Urbana High School. I'm also pursuing my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in language and literacy. I'm happily married, I self-identify as a writer and a mediocre guitar player/songwriter, and a diehard Blackhawks fan.
I guess I can most closely identify with mottoes, but there are so many good ones to choose from. I guess the most apt would be, "The moment you take life too seriously is the moment you dig the last plot of dirt for your own grave." Or, "Chickens don't lay eggs in Tallahassee." Both could work...
